The Edge has landed....

"First Impressions are the lasting ones"

"I am very pleased."

"The most 'natural' plane I have ever flown- no major mixing issues"- quote
from an expert freestyle flyer who flew it longer than I did on the first
flight (Branwell).

General comments on construction- the best quality plane I have seen. The
fuselage comes fully framed, wing sheeted and control surfaces built up and
sanded. The cowl and canopy fit perfectly. The fuselage came perfectly
straight and the wing fit to it very well.

Hyde mount added an extra pound but was worth it. Even with a 3 inch
standoff I did not see any "banging" or rubbing of the spinner on the cowl.
Airframe vibration is not a factor.

Flight trim: none (!). This is the first airplane I have ever flown that I
did not touch the trim levers on the first flight.

The plane came out at 25lbs, but with a Q-75, hard mounted, and built
weight conscious, a weight around 21 or 22 Lbs would be easily attainable..

The Q-100XL started on the third flip- ran flawlessly. Leaned the high end
out slightly more than 1/8 turn after the first flight from factory
settings. It is still a bit rich until it breaks in. I am as pleased with
this engine as I am with my Q-75 XL.

Torque rolls at about 1/3 throttle (linear). It "jumps" vertically when
exiting the torque roll. Power is not an issue.

The Edge is going to be coming on very strong in the full scale world also.
Kirby Chambliss won the Unlimited Division at fon du Lac in his EDGE 540.
